Surgery for A Middle-aged Male Patient with Severe Secondary Chest Wall Concave Deformity
Medical History
The patient is a middle-aged male who has experienced a persistent chest wall infection during childhood. After two years of treatment, he eventually recovered, but was left with a deformity in the anterior chest wall. Initially, his malformation was not severe, but it gradually worsened after he entered puberty.
Preoperative Examination
The chest wall is irregularly deformed, with an overall appearance of caoncave deformity. There is an old scar in the middle of the chest wall, and the heart is visibly compressed. The patient was diagnosed with severe secondary chest wall concave deformity.
Surgical Overview
An incision was first made at the base of the depression to expose the bone structure of the anterior chest wall, followed by an incision on each side of the chest wall. The Wung procedure and the Wang procedure were performed successively. Eventually, the deformity was eliminated, and the surgery achieved a satisfactory result.
